Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring visit was conducted today. Two children were present with one caregiver for six points which is within ratios for supervision. Observed one child playing with books, trucks, manipulatives and the younger one was napping upon arrival. Reviewed 2 children's records, the providers training, background checks and health documentation. Emergency preparation is current for drills and supplies in case of an emergency. Lunch to be served today was chicken roll up, mixed vegetables, cut up grapes and milk for the older child as well as cereal and sweet potatoes for the infant. Dedicated space in the back room is well maintained and has ample supply of age appropriate materials. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Feel free to contact me if you need any assistance.

Standard 8VAC20-800-250-C
Based on observation, toys that were hung from string were in the crib of a child older than 5 months of age.
Evidence:
The sleeping baby (age 9 months) was laying on top of a play mat inside the crib that had 2 toys hanging down from the top of the arch by string.
Plan of Correction: As soon as the baby woke up the play mat was removed from the crib and placed on the floor. The provider will only use it when the baby is awake.
Standard 8VAC20-800-500-F
Based on observation and provider statement, a prohibited piece of equipment was for children in care.
Evidence:
An individual trampoline was on the deck and the provider said it is used by older children in care.
Plan of Correction: The trampoline will be removed immediately and not used by children in care.
