Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 8/23/2023. There were 36 children, ages 6 months-4 years, 7 staff and 1 administrative staff present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, personnel, environment and equipment, care of children, preventing the spread of disease, emergencies and nutrition. Medication was observed during the inspection. A total of 4 children?s records, 3 staff records and 1 medication were reviewed The children were observed during circle time, active time on the playground, handwashing and snack. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 9:27am and departed the center at 11:31am.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Standard 8VAC20-780-245-A
Based on the review of three staff records, the center failed to ensure staff shall complete annually a minimum of 16 hours of training appropriate to the age of children in care.

Evidence: Staff #3 start date was 9/15/2022 and on the day of the inspection only 2 hours of annual training were completed.
Plan of Correction: Provider will obtain additional training hours required annually for staff.
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A
Based on the review of four children?s records, the center failed to ensure that the separate record for each child enrolled contains all of the elements as required by the standards.

Evidence: Child #2 start date was 4/4/2022 on the day of the inspection did not have documentation of child updates and confirmation of up-to-date information in the child?s record.
Plan of Correction: Provider will update child's record with parent.
