Inspector Notes
An unannounced monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on September 1, 2022. There were a total of 75 children present with 18 staff members supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration and staffing. One staff record was reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on a review of staff records, the center hired a staff member with a disqualifying Central Registry finding.
Evidence:
- Staff #1 self-reported that they were the subject of a founded complaint of child abuse or neglect outside the Commonwealth of Virginia on the Sworn Statement submitted to the center 08/29/2022.
- On 08/31/2022 the Owner stated that they had received documentation from the District of Columbia Child and Family Services Agency that Staff #1 had a substantiated finding of abuse or neglect. The Owner was informed by the local licensing office representatives, that Staff #1 could not be employed based on a finding of abuse or neglect.
- On 09/01/2022, Staff #1 was observed as the Lead Teacher supervising a class along with an Assistant.
- Timesheet for Staff #1 verified employment from 08/25/2022 through 09/01/2022.
