Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, and a virtual tour of the program.

A renewal and location modification inspection was initiated and concluded on 8/16/2021. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There are currently no children in care. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 caregiver records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations

3
Standard 22VAC40-111-240-A
Based on virtual observations, it was determined that areas and furnishings of the family day home, inside and outside, have not been maintained in a clean and safe condition.
Evidence:
The following areas of non-compliance were observed by the Inspector:
1 - In the nap room, one of the infant cribs has been placed next to the window that is covered by corded blinds. The crib placement is close enough to the blinds that a child could reach the blinds.
2 - The backyard needs to be mowed and all of the many long weeds need to be pulled.
3 - In the backyard, the outdoor air conditioning unit is in the children's play area. This unit can pose a safety hazard for the children.
4 - There are two fence posts lying on the ground in the backyard play area.
Plan of Correction: All of these items will be corrected before any children enter care.
Standard 22VAC40-111-320-B
Based on virtual observations, it was determined that the provider has not installed child-resistant protective covers larger than 1-1/4 inches in diameter on all unused electrical outlets accessible to children under five years of age.
Evidence:
The Inspector observed two electrical outlets on the wall next to the children's handwashing sink in the bathroom. These outlets were not covered.
Plan of Correction: The outlets will be covered before children enter care.
Standard 22VAC40-111-340-C
Based on virtual observations, it was determined that the children's bathroom does not contain all required items.
Evidence:
The children's bathroom does not contain handsoap and paper towels.
Plan of Correction: I will put the soap and paper towels in the bathroom before children enter care.
