Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 3/23/23 from 5:55pm to 6:20pm with program staff. There were two children in care, supervised by two staff. Children were observed eating a snack and playing on the playground. On-site child and staff records were reviewed as well as off-site records at the YMCA office on 3/23/23. Staff reported that there was no medication on-site but the center has two staff with current certification in Allergy & Anaphylaxis Medication Administration Training (AMAT). The attendance and emergency drill log were reviewed. Required postings were observed. Snack served was applesauce and veggie straws. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@doe.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.

Please complete the "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" areas on the Violation Notice for each violation cited and return to me by close of business on 4/3/23. Plans of correction should include steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard, and measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-80-A
Based on observation and review of documentation, the program did not maintain a written record of attendance that documented the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurred. Evidence: At approximately 5:57pm on 3/23/23, two children were observed in care. The attendance record contained documentation of three children present. Staff reported the third child had been picked up at approximately 4:30pm.
Plan of Correction: I have spoken to the staff and reiterated the importance of writing down the times of the children as soon as they leave so that they do not forget, and they have the proper headcount.
