Inspector Notes
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 7/10/23 from 8:55am to 10:05AM with the Director and program staff. There were 20 children in care at the start of the inspection, ranging in age from five-years to 13-years-old, supervised by four staff. More children and more staff arrived throughout the inspection. The older group of children were observed transitioning to the playground, coming inside and washing hands, then having morning snack brought from home; younger children were observed eating their morning snack, playing ?sharks and minnows?, then getting their sunscreen to go outside. Five child records and five staff records were reviewed for required on-site documents. Additional documents for staff records were reviewed by the Licensing Inspector on 7/14/23. The program has multiple staff with current certification in CPR and First Aid, as well as staff trained in Daily Health Observation Training. There were no medications on-site but the program has multiple staff current in Medication Administration Training (MAT). Required postings were observed. The attendance and emergency drill log were reviewed. The first aid kit, flashlight, and battery-operated radio were observed. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@doe.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.
