Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on September 26, 2024. The on-site inspection began at 7:30 am and ended at 8:40 am. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were nine children present and two staff. The inspector reviewed five children's records on site and four staff records in person at the administrative office from 9:30 am until 11:00 am on September 25, 2024.
This inspection included document review (i.e. Injury logs, policies and procedures, emergency drill logs, medication administration logs, authorization forms), tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program

Violations

Standard 8VAC20-780-510-L
Medication, except for those prescriptions designated otherwise by written physician's order, including refrigerated medication and staff's personal medication, shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Multiple packets of aspirins were observed, unlocked in the first aid kit backpack. The first aid kit backpack was kept in an unlocked in the cafeteria.
Plan of Correction: Medication was removed and disposed of while the inspector was on site. Per the director: going forward we will check any new first aid kits for medication at the time of purchase.
