Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was conducted on January 19, 2022. There were 14 children present and in the care of 4 staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staff qualifications, staffing and supervision, physical plant, programming, special services, special care provisions and emergencies. A total of 2 children's records and 3 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and the violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-530-A-1
Based on review of staff records and verification from the director, the center failed to have one staff member in each classroom with current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Evidence:
1. Staff #1 and Staff #2 did not have current certification in CPR. Date of hire for Staff #1 was 08/26/2021 and for Staff #2 was 02/26/2020.
2. The director reported that there is a 30 minute time period every day during rest time when Staff #1 and Staff #2 are together in a classroom with no staff member with current certification in CPR.
Plan of Correction: The director has scheduled a CPR and first aid course for the earliest date possible for all staff members who need it.
