Inspector Notes

Thank you for your assistance during this unannounced monitoring inspection. This on-site visit was conducted on November 10, 2022 from 3:30 p.m. through 4:50 p.m. Upon arrival, there were 45 students ages 6 through 10, in the care of 5 staff. Five children records and four staff records were reviewed and updated.

Areas observed were: arrival, snack, transition, homework activities and outside play. The children seemed to be well aware of the daily routine and schedule.

Areas of non-compliance may be found on the violation notice. Please complete your plan of correction and return to the licensing inspector within 5 business days.

Standard 8VAC20-770-60-C-2
Based on staff documentation review, the center failed to obtain a central registry check within 30 days of employment for 1 staff.

Evidence:

1. Four staff records were reviewed.
2. Staff # 3 did not have documentation of obtaining a central registry search within 30 days of employment. Staff #3's date of hire was documented on 09/26/2022.
3. Staff confirmed the documentation could not be provided.
Plan of Correction: The Central Registry has been sent off for review. We are awaiting the return of the Central Registry for staff #1.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation, the center failed to have the children wash their hands before and after eating snack.

Evidence:

1. Children were observed not washing hands before eating snack.
2. Children were observed not washing hands after eating snack.
3. The director confirmed the children did not wash hands.
Plan of Correction: Our center is now practicing hand washing before and after snack. In addition, we use sanitizing wipes when available.
