Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 12:40pm and 2:00pm. There were 10 children (28 points) present with the Provider and 2 assistant within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed being held and taking a nap. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, evacuation drill log, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Violations were found during today?s inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice.

Standard 8VAC20-800-280
Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances were not kept in areas inaccessible to children.

Evidence:
1. There were 3 cleaning agents located in a cabinet under the sink in the children's restroom and there was no lock on the cabinet.
Plan of Correction: The Provider moved the 3 cleaning agents to an area inaccessible to the children during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-800-960-E
Based on observation, bottles were not labeled with the child's full name and the date when more than one infant is in care.

Evidence:
1. There were 5 bottles in the refrigerator without dates on them and there were 4 infants in care at the time of the inspection.
Plan of Correction: We will start labeling the bottles with the full name and the date each day beginning tomorrow.
