Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on-site on 10/17/2022 and concluded with an electronic record review on 10/19/2022. There were 34 children, ages 3 years-5 years, and 4 staff members providing direct supervision present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and trainings, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programs, special care provisions and emergencies and special services. The children were observed during arrival, meal time, teacher directed activities and child choice activities. The inspector discussed the following with the provider: attendance, facilities and medication. A total of 5 children?s records, 4 staff records and 2 medications were reviewed. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 9:00 am and departed at 11:15 am.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation noticed issued to the provider.

Based on the record review, the center failed to ensure that no person shall be hired for compensated employment prior to the facility obtaining an employment eligibility letter upon the completion of a fingerprint background check as required by the Code of Virginia.
Evidence: The hire date for Staff 4 was 08/08/2022. The employment eligibility letter was dated 08/17/2022.
Plan of Correction: These records will be obtained according to the regulation.
