Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from approximately 1:55pm-3:09pm. There were 10 children (33 points) directly supervised by 3 caregivers. The home, 1 caregiver record, 3 children?s records, 1 household member?s record, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed napping being bottle fed and at play. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Based on record review the provider did not have written parent authorization including whether parent notes any known adverse reactions for a diaper ointment used.
Evidence: Child #3's record had a diaper ointment listed, but no parent signature on form.
Plan of Correction: Provider will obtain parent authorization for diaper ointment.
Standard 8VAC20-800-80-C
Based on record review, the provider did not document the method of verification of childrens' age and identity.
Evidence: Child #1, #2 and #3 did not have documentation on the method the provider used of verifying age and identity
Plan of Correction: Provider will verify identity and age of children and document verification method for all children in care.
