An announced initial inspection was conducted on May 3, 2023 from approximately 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, personnel, household members, physical environment and equipment, emergencies, caregiver training, preventing the spread of disease and nutrition. The provider record, and 1 assistant record were reviewed. All areas of the home were observed and areas where the children are cared for were inspected.
The first aid kit was inspected and found complete. The menu and emergency numbers were posted.
The information gathered during the inspection determined violations with applicable standards or law.

Based on records review, the provider failed to ensure that applicants undergo a criminal background check prior to beginning employment or volunteering. Evidence: The record for Assistant #1 did not contain a criminal history check. When asked, the provider acknowledged that Assistant #1 did not have a criminal history check.

Based on observation, and interview, the provider failed to ensure that areas and furnishings, inside and outside shall be maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition. Evidence: The back yard has a fence that has several broken, splintered, and cracked fence pieces. When asked, the provider acknowledged that the fence needed to be repaired

Based on interview, the provider failed to ensure that all wood burning stoves and fireplaces and associated chimney?s shall be inspected annually by a knowledgeable inspector to verify that the devices are properly installed, maintained, and cleaned as needed. Evidence: The home has a wood burning fireplace. When asked to see documentation of the inspection and cleaning the provider stated that she was unable to locate it.
