Inspector Notes
An unannounced Renewal inspection was conducted today. A total of 69 children with 15 staff were observed in the classrooms. A total of 7 occupied classrooms today all of which were observed. In the Infant 1 class, children were finishing lunch. Children were observed in high chairs and small tables eating lunch that was provided from home or the center. The diapering area and cribs were inspected along with all topical ointments. The lunch provided from the center today was corn dogs, green beans and oranges with either milk or water to drink. Staff were observed sitting with the children in several classrooms where the children were eating. Transitions from lunch, bathroom and naptime was observed. The children were observed lining up quietly for the bathroom or obtaining their linens and placing them on their mats. In the Preschool classroom, the children were already on their mats, some of them observed were sleeping. Staff sat beside the children who were still awake and were observed rubbing backs to encourage sleep. Artwork was on display throughout the center that was completed by the children which included snowmen made out of construction paper with the letters of the children's names on each section of the snowman. The solar system area in the 3's class was an interactive acitivity available for the chidlren. The letter "B" was themed with a "letter hunt" activity and today's project of a puffy paint snowman was on the shelves drying. A total of 5 children's and 5 staff records were reviewed and found complete. The center was organized, clean and maintained. This inspection occurred between 11:10am and 2pm. 2Evidence:
The fall zones located at the base of all slides and the climbing area did not have a minimum of six inches of resilient surfacing maintained.
Evidence:
1. The Infant 2 classroom had children between the ages of 15 months to 19 months.
2. One child in the Infant 2 classroom was eating hard pretzels that were determined a choking hazard.
