Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on July 19, 2023 between the hours of 11:15am and 1:00pm. There were a total of 22 children with 4 staff members supervising. Children were observed engaged in age appropriate activities, handwashing and toileting and resting. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, children and staff records, special care and emergencies and nutrition.
Violations were found during today?s inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice.

Standard 8VAC20-780-290-A-3
Based on observation, electrical outlets did not have protective covers that are of a size that cannot be swallowed by children.
Evidence:
1. Electrical outlet in the Campers classroom (3-4 year old) on the back wall did not have a protective cover.
2. Electrical outlet in the Under the Sea classroom (2-3 year old) beside the teacher's desk did not have a protective cover.
Plan of Correction: I will speak to my teachers and have it corrected now. Violation corrected during inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation, staff did not wash their hands before and after helping a child use the toilet and before and after a diaper change.
Evidence:
1. Staff #2 did not wash their hands before or after helping a child use the toilet.
2. Staff #5 did not wash their hands before helping a child use the toilet.
Plan of Correction: I will retrain handwashing procedures with the staff.
