Inspector Notes

A complaint inspection was conducted on September 14, 2022 in response to a complaint that was received by the Department on September 1, 2022, regarding allegations in the care of the children at the center. Staff were interviewed, documentation was reviewed, classroom observations were completed and staff and children?s interactions were observed throughout the entire inspection. The evidence gathered during the investigation did not support the complaint allegations of non-compliance with standards or law however a violation was cited outside of the concern of the complaint. A violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the director at the exit interview.

Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that when a child is placed in an infant seat or high chair, the protective belt shall be fastened securely.
Evidence:
1. In the infant room, there were seven children eating lunch at the feeding table without protective belts fastened.
2. Three of the seven infants were observed climbing out of their seats during lunch.
3. Staff #1 confirmed that the seven children at the feeding table did not have protective belts securely fastened.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff #1 will speak with all staff that work in the infant room to ensure that the protective belts are securely fastened when the infant are in their seat, high chair or feeding table.
