Inspector Notes

A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was initiated and completed on. The inspection started at 10:10 AM and concluded at 10:50 AM. There was 1 child present and 1 caregivers; the point total was 2. The inspector reviewed 1 child?s record and 1 caregiver and 7 household members records on-site.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

The vendor may determine by policy what medications, if any, will be administered at its family day home, including prescription medications or over-the-counter or nonprescription medications.
Child #1's record did not have an acknowledgment of the sick child/medication policy.
Plan of Correction: I will have the parent complete the sick policy form.
Standard 8VAC20-790-470-G
Psittacine birds (birds of the parrot family),shall not be in areas accessible to children during the hours children are in care.
Multiple birds were accessible to a child in care.
Plan of Correction: I will keep the birds in their cage during childcare hours. The cage is usually on the balcony; however, with the cold weather, i brought them inside.
