Inspector Notes

A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was initiated and completed on October 2, 2024. The inspection started at 10:10am and concluded at 11:00am: There were 4 children present and 1 caregiver; the point total was 8. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records, 1 caregiver record and 1 household member's record on-site. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Repeat Violation: The vendor shall maintain a written hard copy record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs.

There was no daily attendance record at the time of the inspection. The last daily attendance documented was the first week of September but no other documentation was available.
Plan of Correction: I will start keeping written attendance.
Standard 8VAC20-790-390-A-2
Children's hands shall be washed with soap and running water after toileting.

The hands of Child #1, #2, #3 and #4 were not washed with soap and running water after toileting.
Plan of Correction: I will wash their hands after diapering.
Standard 8VAC20-790-390-A-3
Caregivers shall wash their hands with soap and running water before and after changing a diaper.

The caregiver did not wash her hands with soap and running water after changing the diaper of Child #1, #2, #3, and #4.
Plan of Correction: I used my gloves but I will wash my hands before and after diapering.

The diapering surface shall be cleaned and sanitized after each use.

The caregiver did not sanitize the diapering surface after each use.
Plan of Correction: I thought using the cleaner was all I needed to do. I will get a disinfectant and use after cleaning the diapering surface.

Evacuation was not practiced during the month of September.
