8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes
Inspector Notes
An annual Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on March 30, 2023 to review local permitted home's health and safety requirements. The Vendor has requested to open after being at a new location. One child was present . The Vendor has a pet rabbit and it is upstairs away from children in care, but was observed as very friendly and in good health. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.

Based on interview and record review, it was determined the vendor does not maintain a written hard copy record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs.
Evidence:
1. Vendor has a child present and only has attendance kept on the phone.
Plan of Correction: Will use paper to record all kids when attending.

Based on observation, the vendor has not kept potentially poisonous substances stored away from areas children have access to.
Evidence:
1. kitchen is open for children and cleaning items, alcohol, and bug spray are in lower, unlocked cabinets.
2. Athletes foot spray is on the open stairs and in reach of children.
Plan of Correction: Will lock up all items.

Based on observation, the vendor does not use paper towels to dry hands after washing.

Based on observation, the diapering surface is not kept separate from other items or activities as children's toys are piled up on the changing table.
