Inspector Notes

An unannounced subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on 5/24/2024 beginning at 10:25am and ending at 11:15am. There were 2 children in attendance at the time of the inspection. Required background searches, training certificates and household member information was reviewed. A sample of requirements for daily attendance, child information/records, emergency preparedness planning and supplies were also reviewed. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or laws and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the vendor.

Based on observation, the vendor did not maintain a written hard copy record of daily attendance of each child in care as it occurs.

Evidence: There were no written attendance records for the week of May 24 2024.
Plan of Correction: Written attendance was taken during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-790-260-A
Based on observation, areas and equipment of the family day home contained heavy items that a child could pull down on themselves.

Evidence: A door that had been taken off its hinges was in an area where a child could pull it down on themselves.
Plan of Correction: The door was moved into an area inaccessible to children during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-790-270-A
Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances we not stored in areas inaccessible to children.

Evidence: Cleaning chemicals labeled, "Keep out of reach of children" we found in an unlocked cabinet under the sink in the bathroom.
Plan of Correction: The cleaning chemicals were moved into an area inaccessible to children during the inspection.
