Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 2:15pm-3:15pm. There were 8 children (28 points) present with the Provider and one assistant within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed waking up from nap, listening to a story, and eating snack. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, evacuation drill log, menu, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Violations were found during today?s inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice.Thank you for your cooperation. Standard 8VAC20-800-340-C
Based on observation, the bathroom did not have paper towels.
Evidence:
1. The bathroom did not have paper towels available for hand washing.
2. The changing table sink did not have paper towels available for hand washing.
Plan of Correction: We will get paper towels by tomorrow and put them by the sink areas for hand washing.
Standard 8VAC20-800-920
Based on observation, when meals or snacks are provided by the family day home, the menu for the current one-week period did not list any substituted food.
Evidence:
1. The snack menu for the day that was posted on the parent board listed "honey crackers, juice, and fruit" for snack, but at the time of the inspection, the children were served veggie sticks. There was no substitutions listed on the menu.
Plan of Correction: We will make sure we serve what is on the menu or write in substitutions if we have any.
