Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was conducted on 09/19/2022 from 10:00AM to 11:05AM. 82 children were directly supervised by 15 staff. The physical space, playground, 2 new staff records, 4 child records, evacuation drills, the Emergency Preparedness Plan, policies and required posted documents were reviewed. Medications were in compliance. Children were observed playing on the playground, interacting during circle time activities, working on developmentally appropriate projects and engaging with the staff. Age appropriate materials were available in all classrooms. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the program. Based on document review and interview with the Director, the center did not implement a monthly practice evacuation drill. Evidence: On the Fire Evacuation Drill Log, in the month of March 2022, a Shelter-In-Place drill was conducted instead of a fire drill. The director stated she didn?t realize she had to do a fire inspection drill if she did a shelter-in-place drill. Shelter-in-place drills are to be conducted twice a year in addition to the monthly fire evacuation drills.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure a fire evacuation drill is done monthly.
