Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated on 07/22/2024 and completed on 07/22/2024. The on-site inspection began at 9:00 am and ended at 11:15 am. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 36 children present and 9 staff. The
inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records onsite. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observations, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances such as
cleaning materials, insecticides and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe
locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:

1. In the yellow room, an aerosol container of disinfectant was in an unlocked cabinet under
the sink.
2. In the orange room, a container of Dawn, Totally Awesome Disinfectant and Clorox
wipes were in an unlocked closet.
3. In the red room, a container of disinfectant, Clorox Disinfectant Mist and Clorox wipes were
in an unlocked closet.
Plan of Correction: Hazardous materials were either moved or closets were locked during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observations, the center failed to ensure that children?s hands shall be washed
with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals or snacks.

Evidence:

In the yellow and red room, children were observed returning to activities without washing their hands after morning snack.
Plan of Correction: Staff will ensure children wash hands before and after eating.
