Standard 8VAC20-780-340-A
When staff are supervising children, they shall always ensure their care, protection, and guidance.

On December 8, 2025, Staff #1 grabbed Child #1 by the right wrist and pulled the child. Child #1 did not resist their wrist being held. Staff #1 pulled the child's wrist up and pulled the child towards the wall and closer to Staff #1. Staff #1 pulled the child again, and yanked the child's wrist hard upward swinging the child towards the classroom door and lifting the child off of both feet.
Plan of Correction: The staff #1 was terminated on December 19th?2025, after the incident was investigated by the management. Management had an in person staff meeting on January 20th with all the staff members present in regards to re training all the staff about positive behavior guidance and appropriate redirection techniques. The management emphasized on using calm and respectful tones at all times. The Kiddie Academy?s behavior management and positive guidance approach policy was reviewed during the meeting. In addition to the meeting, management continue to conduct regular classroom observations to ensure compliance with licensing regulations and center policies. Management will continue to closely monitor classrooms to prevent future violations.
Standard 8VAC20-780-400-B
Behavioral guidance shall be constructive in nature, age and stage appropriate, and shall be intended to redirect children to appropriate behavior and resolve conflicts.

On December 8, 2025, Staff #1 was changing a diaper in the classroom, Child #1 (age: 3 years) began ripping paper off of the wall then started swiping play doh and toys off of a table. After Staff #1 completed the diaper change, Staff #1 grabbed Child #1 by the right wrist and pulled the child towards the phone in the classroom. While Staff #1 was using the phone, Child #1 stood in place and did not resist their wrist being held. While on the phone, Staff #1 pulled the child's wrist up and pulled the child closer to the wall that the phone was hanging on. Staff #1 got off the phone and pulled the child by the right wrist towards the classroom door, the child followed without resisting, Staff #1 yanked the child's wrist upward swinging the child towards the classroom door and lifting the child off of both feet.

On December 8, 2025, Staff #1 roughly grabbed Child #1 (age:3 years) who was ripping paper and swiping items off a table, by the right wrist and pulled the child towards the phone in the classroom. While Staff #1 was using the phone, Child #1 stood in place and did not resist their wrist being held. While on the phone, Staff #1 roughly pulled the child's wrist up and pulled the child closer to the phone that was hanging on the wall. Staff #1 got off the phone and roughly pulled the child by the right wrist towards the classroom door, the child followed without resisting, Staff #1 roughly yanked the child's wrist upward swinging the child towards the classroom door and lifting both feet of the child off the floor.
