Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was conducted on 5/15/2024. 36 children were directly supervised by 9 staff. The physical space, 5 children's records, 3 staff records, posted documents, medications, the Emergency Preparedness Plan, evacuation drills, attendance and other required documents were reviewed. Children were observed singing songs, doing various puzzles and table activities, going on outdoor walks, and engaging with the staff. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the program. Based on review of records and medications, the center did not ensure safe medication administration practices.

Evidence:
Child #6 had emergency medication on site and the center did not have the required Auvi-Q training to be able to administer the medication.
Plan of Correction: The required training will be completed and documented.
Standard 8VAC20-780-510-I
Based on medication review, the center did not ensure proper written authorization for the medication was obtained.

Evidence:
The written authorization for a medication listed "Epi-pen" however the medication obtained by the center was an "Auvi-Q."
Plan of Correction: The parents will be given back the forms and we will obtain corrected medication authorization forms.
