Inside areas occupied by children shall be maintained no lower than 68 degrees F. The thermostat in the pre-school room (3-year-old room) registered the temperature in the classroom occupied by children at 67 degrees.
Plan of Correction: We strive to keep the classroom environment at a seasonally pleasant temperature per classroom, which depends on many factors including the age of child, the size of classroom, number of children present and their activity level. All eleven of our HVAC units have been replaced within the last 5 years and are properly maintained and regularly serviced. We have Ecobee smart thermostats installed and programmed in each classroom. Our teachers monitor when their individual classroom is feeling too warm or too cool and appropriate adjustments are made. At the time of inspection, this classroom?s temperature was comfortable, the children were waking up from nap and classroom movement was beginning again. To maintain a classroom at 68?F degrees as indicated by the standard, the thermostat could momentarily read 67?F at which point heat would initiate again to raise the classroom temperature. However, we have implemented the following corrective action. Our smart thermostats will be programmed with a minimum set point of 69?F to account for fluctuations and ensure the room does not drop below 68?F. Teachers and leadership have been trained to monitor thermostat readings in addition to how comfortable their room feels throughout the day and report any concerns promptly so appropriate adjustments can be made.

Prepared infant formula shall be refrigerated, dated and labeled with the child's name. There were two infant bottles in the younger infant room refrigerator without a date on them and one bottle in the older infant room refrigerator not dated.
Plan of Correction: We are committed to full compliance with regulations and best practices regarding the handling and storage of infant bottles. Each infant?s daily bottles arrive each morning in individual insulated cooler bags that we provide. Staff promptly transfer the bottles to a class refrigerator. All infant bottles are returned to their respective families each evening in an insulated cooler bag, whether the bottle contents were consumed or not. Our classroom closing procedures include confirming that no bottles remain at the Center overnight. Our classroom opening procedures include confirming no bottles from the previous day were left in the classroom refrigerator. We provide families with labels for bottles although many chose to use their own. At the time of inspection, all bottles were properly labeled with the child's name and whether the contents were breast milk or formula. Of the approximately11 bottles in the Infant refrigerator, 2 were missing a date and of the approximately 5 bottles in the Older Infant Classroom, 1 was missing a date. Although the bottles do not remain at the Center overnight, all staff members responsible for handling infant bottles have undergone retraining on the importance of dating bottles upon receipt. We will reinforce policies during staff meetings regarding the proper handling, labeling, and dating of infant bottles. We will provide additional information to parents during orientation and through written communication requesting that they also date bottles. We will continue to train new staff on bottle dating. We will continuously remind and educate parents and staff on the requirement of following bottle dating procedures. Lead teachers will ensure bottles are dated correctly each day.
