Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was initiated and concluded on 5/18/2022. At the time of arrival, there were 22 children present, ranging in ages from infant to 5 years of age, with 4 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-320-B
Based on temperatures taken with a digital thermometer during the inspection, the licensee did not ensure that each restroom provided for children have sinks located near toilets that are supplied with running warm water that does not exceed 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
Evidence:
The hot water at the sink in the two year old classroom measured 123.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
The hot water at the sink on the back hallway and used by children in care measured 124.2 degrees Fahrenheit.
The hot water at the sink next to the kitchen and used by children in care measured 122.9 degrees Fahrenheit.
Plan of Correction: The program director will adjust the temperature on the hot water heater within 10 days to ensure that water at the hot water taps on sinks that children use while in care do not exceed 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
Standard 8VAC20-780-90-A
Based on a review of records and interview, the licensee did not ensure that each child's record contains a signed agreement between the parent and the center which includes the required agreements.
Evidence:
Three children's records were reviewed
The record for child #1 did not contain a parent signature on the written agreement between the parent and the center.
The program director confirmed that this agreement was not signed.
Plan of Correction: The parent signed the Parent Agreements on 5/18/2022.
The licensee will ensure parents review and sign the agreements at the time of enrollment.
