Inspector Notes

A complaint inspection was initiated on 6/2/2023 and concluded on 6/6/2023 regarding a complaint that was received by the department on 5/1/2023. Seven staff were interviewed and observations made in the classrooms. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, and special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started on 6//2023 at 12:15 pm and concluded at 2:31pm. The inspection continued on 6/6/2023 from 10:45 am until 12:55 p.m.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Therefore, the complaint is deemed Valid.

Based on interviews, the licensee did not always ensure that areas and equipment, inside and outside, are always maintained in a clean, safe, operable condition.
Evidence:
Seven staff were interviewed regarding a concern about cleanliness resulting from the toilet not being flushed after each use by children.
Two staff stated that they did not always flush the toilet between uses when assisting several young children toileting in succession, as long as the children only urinated.
An additional staff acknowledged an awareness that another staff utilizes that practice.
Plan of Correction: The licensee states that "Staff will be retrained on toileting policy which requires flushing after each use."
