Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted today, September 11, 2023. The licensing inspector was onsite from approximately 12:45 pm until 2:00 pm. There were 10 elementary children in care with one staff supervising. Children were observed drawing, creating and painting flags, beading and crocheting. Later children listened to a story and had individual reading time.
The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of four child records and four staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
If you have any questions about this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Based on review of children?s records and interview, the center did not obtain a written care plan for one child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.

Evidence:

The record of child #4, with a diagnosed food allergy, did not have documentation of an allergy care plan.
The director stated an allergy care plan had not been obtained.
Plan of Correction: Per the director: I have sent two emails requesting the parent provide the allergy care plan. I will send another email to the parent requesting the information.
