Inspector Notes
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 11:15 am - 12:45 pm. There were 81 children in care being supervised by 16 staff. The children were observed preparing for lunch and participating in circle time activities. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of six child records and five staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-770-60-C-2
Based on review of five staff records it was determined that not all records contained documentation of results of a central registry check within 30 days of employment. Evidence: The record for staff A (start date: 05/30/2023) did not have documentation of a central registry check.
Plan of Correction: Administration will request a status update regarding the central registry check for Staff A.
Standard 8VAC20-780-240-A
Based on review of five staff records it was determined that not all records contained documentation that The Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course was completed within 90 days of employment. Evidence: The record for staff A (start date: 05/30/2023) did not contain documentation that Virginia Pre-Service training was complete.
Plan of Correction: Staff A will complete Virginia Pre-Service Training.
Standard 8VAC20-780-80-A
Based on review of attendance records it was determined that the arrival and departure of each child was not documented as it occurred. Evidence: The attendance record in the Pre-K classroom indicated nine children were in care, however there were ten children present in the classroom.
Plan of Correction: Attendance record was corrected during the inspection.
