Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today with the provider, who was present with five children between the ages of 2 to 3 years. The children and provider were outside having their morning snack, which consisted of pretzels, mandarin oranges and water.

The provider reported that there have no injuries/accidents since the last inspection, there were no medications on site for any of the children and none of the enrolled children have allergies.

The provider is CPR and First Aid certified through American Heart Association, which is due to expire in 7/23.

Five children and one household member's files were reviewed. The areas of non compliance are outlined on the violation notice.

Standard 8VAC20-800-680-A
Based on observation, it was determined that the caregiver did not wash their hands with soap and water after diapering children.
Evidence:
The provider was observed diapering 2 children and failed to wash their hands after each diaper change.
Plan of Correction: I was wearing cloves and was not aware that I still needed to wash hands in between diapering. I will make sure to wash my hands between diapering.

Based on observation, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that children hands were washed with soap and water after diapering.
Evidence:
The Licensing Inspector observed the provider failing to have 2- two year old children wash their hands after diapering.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure to wash the children's hands after diapering them.
