Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted 12/5/2022 from 12:40pm through 1:55pm. There were 16 children directly supervised by 4 staff and all classrooms were in ratio. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, menus, 4 staff records, 5 children?s records, emergency drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There was reportedly no medication on site. Children were observed napping. There was an adequate supply of age appropriate materials for the children. There was an adequate number of CPR/First Aid, Daily Health Observation, and MAT trained staff on site at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Based on record review, the center did not ensure that all staff complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored Preservice orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment.

Evidence: Staff #2 (Date of Hire: 10/26/2011), Staff #3 (Date of Hire: 8/31/2015) and Staff #4 (Date of Hire: 6/2/14) have not completed Preservice training.
Plan of Correction: Correction - all current staff do have the training!

Based on record review, the center has not obtained an annual health inspection.

Evidence: The most recent health inspection was conducted 1/23/2020.
Plan of Correction: Inspection done 12/9/22.

Based on observation, the center did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence: There were spray bottles of bleach, glass cleaner, and multipurpose cleaners stored on a shelf above the changing table in the bathroom used by children.
Plan of Correction: Lock box was made and installed at time of inspection.
