Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted 4/26/2023 from 10:25am-11:50am. There were 29 children directly supervised by 4 staff and all classrooms were in ratio. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, menus, 4 staff records, 5 children?s records, emergency drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were reportedly no medications on site at the time of inspection. Children were observed eating lunch, reading books, practicing sight words, and washing hands. Positive interactions between children and staff were observed during this inspection. There was an abundant supply of age appropriate materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. There was an adequate number of CPR/First Aid, Daily Health Observation, and MAT trained staff on site at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Based on record review, the center did not obtain ensure that repeat background checks are completed at least every five years for all staff.

Evidence: Staff #1 (Date of Hire: 10/26/2011) did not have repeat Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry checks completed within the last five years as the most recent results on file were dated 1/19/2018.

Based on record review, the center did not ensure that all staff complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment.
