Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on 01/09/2025. The on-site inspection began at 8:40 AM and ended at 11:25 AM. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 137 children present and 23 staff. The inspector reviewed 8 children?s records and 8 staff records. This inspection included:
? document review,
? tour of the facility,
? interviews, and
? observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the violation will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five business days from today, which will be the close of business on December 16, 2024. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
There was a container of foaming bubble soap with a warning label to include to keep out of reach of children on a cabinet within reach of children.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following:
Teacher immediately locked up the bubble soap.

Disposable diapers shall be disposed in a storage system that is either foot operated or used in such a way that neither the staff member's hand nor the soiled diaper touches the exterior surface of the storage system during disposal.
A staff person used their hands to open the lid of the diaper storage system when disposing a soiled pull-up.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following
The foot pedal was broken on the diaper pail. Diaper pail was replaced immediately on 1/9/25

When centers choose to provide snacks, they shall follow the most recent age appropriate nutritional requirements of the Child and Adult Food Program of the US Department of Agriculture.
Only 1 food group component was served during morning snack in a toddler classroom.

The teachers will double check their milk supply in the classroom before leaving for the day to ensure they always have milk to serve. On milk delivery days, classrooms will be sticked with milk, but they will need to make sure to get more from the upstairs school refrigerator if they run out.

Children were observed walking around while eating morning snack in a toddler classroom.

Children will be closely monitored to ensure they are sitting at their table for eating and drinking. If they are done, their food/drink items will be put away so they are not walking around the room with them. Corrected immediately
