The center must request a search of the central registry prior to the employee's first day of employment.
The central registry request for Staff #1 (employed for eight months) was not requested prior to the employee's first day of employment. The central registry search was requested five months after the employee's hire.
Plan of Correction: The program director will ensure that new employees complete the central registry search prior to employment.
Standard 8VAC20-780-160-A
Each staff member and individual from an independent contractor shall submit documentation of a negative tuberculosis (TB) screening. Documentation of the screening shall be submitted at the time of employment and prior to coming into contact with children.
The TB documentation for Staff #1 (employed for eight months) was dated for six months after hire.
Plan of Correction: The program director will ensure that new employees complete the TB screening prior to employment. Going forward, potential new employees will need this as part of their onboarding packet prior to being hired.
