Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on January 11, 2024, from 12:15pm to approximately 3pm. There were 34 children present and 14 staff members. The Inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 6 staff records. The Inspector observed staff and children?s interactions throughout the inspection. Children were observed during nap, bottle feeding, individual free play, and handwashing. Medications were observed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the center and was reviewed with the owner and Asst. Director at the exit interview. Inspection was concluded on 1/11/24.

Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. In the preschool bathroom, there were two disinfectant bottles unlocked and on top of the first aid kit.
2. Staff #2, confirmed that there were two disinfectant bottles that were unlocked in the children?s bathroom.
Plan of Correction: The centers responded with the following: The center removed the bottles during the course of the inspection and locked them away from the children.
