8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Child Day Centers

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 09/26/2023 from 11:20am to 1:15pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 59 children ages 3 months to age 4 years old supervised by 13 staff. The physical plant, programming, attendance, menus, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, 2 medications with corresponding authorization records, emergency drills, bus, and emergency supplies were reviewed. The playground was not inspected due to inclement weather. Children were observed participating in nap, lunch, and television time. Diapering and handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT), CPR and First Aid, and Daily Health Observation (DHO) training.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
