Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on September 28, 2023. The inspector arrived at 12pm and departed at approximately 1:30pm. There were 14 children and 5 staff present. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 4 staff records. The inspector observed staff and children?s interactions throughout the inspection and observed ratio and supervision. Children were observed during infant feeding, handwashing, diapering, and nap. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the center?s directors at the exit interview.

Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the center did not ensure that all employees shall undergo a background check every five years thereafter.
Evidence:
1. In reviewing staff records, 2 of 4 staff records had expired background checks.
a. Staff #1 expired on August 29, 2018.
b. Staff #2 expired on September 12, 2018.
2. Staff #1 and Staff #2, the owners, confirmed their criminal background checks are expired.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff #1 scheduled background checks during the time of the inspection. Moving forward, the center will ensure that all background checks are up to date.
