Inspector Notes

A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was completed on 3/18/2024 from 12:45 pm - 2:40 pm. There were 11 children, ages 3 months to 2 years old, for a total of 29 points with 2 caregivers.
A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined violations with applicable standards or law. Violations are identified on the violation notice.

Based on a review of records and interview, the licensee did not ensure that all caregivers complete, within their first 90 days of employment, the required Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff sponsored by the Department of Education.
Evidence:
Two provider / assistant caregiver records were reviewed.
The record for assistant #2, who began assisting in the family day home 6/14/2023, did not contain documentation of Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff sponsored by the Department of Education.
The licensee stated that assistant #2 is currently working on this training but has not competed it.
Plan of Correction: The licensee will request that assistant #2 complete the Virginia Preservice Training within 30 days.
