Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on 9/16/2024. The on-site inspection began at 11:25am and ended at 12:30pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 5 children present and 3 caregivers; the point total was 13. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 3 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the family day home, interviews and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-800-280
Potentially poisonous substances, materials and supplies such as, but not limited to, cleaning agents, disinfectants, deodorizers, plant care chemicals, pesticides, and petroleum distillates shall be stored in areas inaccessible to children.

Several cleaning agents were observed in a cabinet under the sink in the children's bathroom. The cabinet was not locked or inaccessible.

Child-resistant protective covers larger than 1-1/4 inches in diameter shall be installed on all unused electrical outlets and surge protectors accessible to children under five years of age.

An unused electrical outlet was observed in the children's bathroom without a protective cover.
