Inspector Notes

A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on 03/11/2021 and concluded on 03/23/2021. The Director was contacted by email to initiate the inspection. There were 15 children in care with two staff. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with subsidy regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on record review and discussion with staff, the vendor failed to ensure that within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval all staff who work directly with children shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.

Evidence:

1. Staff #1, per the vendor's records, was hired 9/09/2020 and the Preservice Training was dated 3/22/2021.
Plan of Correction: "Will require new staff to complete within 60 days of hire."
