Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection wascompleted on 04/23/2025 as a part of the licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 12:40pm and ended at 2:40pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. This inspection included: document review, tour of the facility, interviews, observations and measurements. There were 17 children present and 5 staff. The inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Lysol and disinfectant wipes were in an unlocked cabinet.
Plan of Correction: The owners will remind staff about ensuring chemicals remain locked at all times.
Standard 8VAC20-780-440-E
There shall be at least 12 inches of space between occupied cots, beds, and rest mats. during nap the children's rest mats did not have at least 12 inches of space between occupied mats.
Plan of Correction: The room will be rearranged in such a way that provides at least 12inches of space between each child's mat.
Standard 8VAC20-780-510-L
Staff's personal medication shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. the center had a first aid kit that contained various packets of Aspirin intended for staff. The kit was not locked and was stored on a cubby shelf in reach of children.
Plan of Correction: All Aspirin was removed and the first aid kit was moved to a locked area.
