Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was conducted on 7/12/22. There were 14 children (39 points) present in the direct care of 3 staff members. The children were engaged in free play with age appropriate toys and watching a children's program on TV. A total of 3 child records, 3 staff records and 2 household member records were reviewed. The emergency drill records were current. There were no children with allergies or medications on site.

Standard 8VAC20-800-40-A
Based on observation, the total number of children receiving care at any one time exceeded the capacity of the home.
Evidence:
1. At 10:45 am, there were 14 children present in the direct care of 3 staff members.
2. Staff # 1 stated that Child # 1 and Child # 2 were not enrolled children, and were present only for a short period of time on this day.
3. Child # 1 and Child # 2 both left at approximately 11:15 am.
Plan of Correction: I will ensure that the family day home is never above it's capacity.
Standard 8VAC20-800-60-A
Based on staff interview, the provider did not maintain an up to date record at the family day home for each child.
Evidence: The provider stated that she did not have a record for Child # 1 and Child # 2.
Plan of Correction: I will ensure that I maintain complete records for children present at the family day home.
