Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 2:25pm to 3:30pm. There were 8 children (21 points) in direct care of 2 caregivers. The children were observed waking up from nap time, washing hands and preparing for snack. The afternoon snack include included blueberries, yogurt and milk. 2 children's records, 4 caregiver's records and 3 household member's records were reviewed. Emergency drills, caregiver's training records and attendance records were also reviewed. Areas of non compliance are listed in the violation notice. Based on records review and staff interview, the family day home did not obtain results of an out of state sex offender search and criminal record check for an employee prior to the first day of employment; and also did not obtain results of an out of state central registry search within 45 days of employment.
Evidence:
1. Caregiver # 1's first day of employment was 2/27/23. The provider confirmed with Caregiver # 1 that she resided in Illinois within the last five years.
2. The provider did not complete a sex offender search and criminal record check for Caregiver # 1 prior to the first day of employment.
3. The provider did not submit a central registry search for Caregiver # 1 for Illinois.
Plan of Correction: All background checks will be completed. I was not aware about the out of state checks.
