Inspector Notes

An unannounced code compliance inspection was initiated and concluded on July 22, 2022. There five children in care with three staff and one administrator. Children in care ranged in age from one to five years. Children and staff records were reviewed. The child care rooms were reviewed. The administrator reports there is not medication being administered to children in care. The center does not offer transportation, field trips or swimming activities. Code violations regarding staff health checks, required postings and background checks were found and discussed with the administrator at the conclusion of the inspection.

Based on observation the center failed to ensure that the fact that it is exempt from licensure is in a visible location.
Evidence:
The exemption is not posted in a visible location in the facility.
Plan of Correction: Going forward center management will ensure that all required postings are visibly posted in the center.
Standard 8VAC20-770-40-D-2
Based on record review the center failed to ensure that a central registry background is completed within allotted time frame.
Evidence:
Four out of four staff records reviewed did not have documentation of central registry background having been requested or completed.
Plan of Correction: Center management will provide documentation that the central registry background checks have been requested for all staff. Once the findings have been received documentation will be forwarded to the inspctor.
