Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection, resulting from a self-reported incident reported during the routine monitoring inspection, was conducted on 03/28/2023. The inspector reviewed 2 staff records and interviewed 1 staff. The inspector arrived at the center at 9:05 am and departed at 2:00 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Based on staff interviews and review of photographs, the center failed to ensure that medication, expect for those prescriptions designated otherwise by written physician?s order, including refrigerated medication and staff?s person medication, shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence: Staff 1 stated that on 02/14/2023, Staff 3 sent a photograph via text message of a box of pills, containing 21 individual compartments full of pills, that was found on top of the refrigerator in the infant classroom. Staff 1 stated that the pill box belonged to Staff 2. The staff persons medication was not kept in a locked place to prevent access by children.
Plan of Correction: Staff medications are no longer allowed in the building.
