Inspector Notes

An unannounced code compliance inspection was conducted on 8/15/22 from11:10 am to 12:40pm. There were 20 children in direct care and supervision of 5 staff members. The children were observed eating lunch brought from home, using the restroom and napping. Handwashing was observed. There was one medication on site which was reviewed along with the written medication authorization. 5 staff records, 3 children's records and emergency drill records were reviewed. Center postings required for exemption were posted in the center. The information gathered during the inspection determined non compliance with applicable code sections. Based on observation, the center did not maintain cushioning material under playground equipment.
Evidence:
1. The playground used wood chips as the cushioning material under play equipment on the playground.
2. The dirt was visible on the ground under the wood chips underneath the swings.
3. Two climbing structures did not have a minimum of 6 inches of wood chips around the fall zones.
Plan of Correction: More wood chips will be added to maintain the appropriate resiliency under fall zones.
