This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, and interviews.
A monitoring inspection was conducted to investigate a self-reported incident regarding the forbidden action of rough handling of a child. The inspection was initiated on June 18, 2021 and concluded on July 22, 2021. Staff interviews were conducted. Documentation was reviewed.
Based upon the information gathered during the investigation, the self-reported incident regarding rough handling was determined to be valid.

Standard 22VAC40-185-410-1
Based on a review of video recording provided by the facility and staff interview, it was determined that a staff used the forbidden action of rough handling of a child to correct the behavior of the child. Evidence: On June 11, 2021 staff A roughly handled child 1 by grabbing them by the arm and roughly moving the child from being seated in a chair to being seated on the nearby carpet area.
Plan of Correction: The staff received a written reprimand for the action and was reassigned to work with a different group of children. The staff received retaining regarding classroom management and appropriate staff interventions.
