Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted with the director on July 18, 2022 beginning at 9:10 AM and ending at 11:15 AM. There were 89 children, ages 3 months through 12 years old, in the care of 17 staff members. The children were observed playing with age appropriate toys, being read a book, and playing on the playground. Five children's records were reviewed and in compliance. Five staff records were reviewed and in compliance. The first aid kit, flashlight, and battery-operated radio were observed and in compliance. The emergency evacuation drill log was reviewed and determined to be in compliance. The facility buses were inspected and determined to be in compliance. The most recent health inspection was dated September 28, 2021. The most recent fire inspection was dated August 30, 2022.

Based on observation, the center did not ensure that all prepared infant formula shall be dated. Evidence: There were 6 bottles in the refrigerator in the Chickadee's classroom that were not dated.
Plan of Correction: The staff dated the bottles during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-80-A
Based on observation, the center did not ensure that a written record of daily attendance documented the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs. Evidence: In the Chicakdee (infant) classroom, there were 4 children signed in on the written attendance but 6 children were present. In the Eagles (school aged) classroom, there were 4 children signed in on the written attendance but 12 children were physically present.
Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded to document children's arrival as soon as it happens on the written attendance.
