Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program A monitoring inspection was initiated on 11/29/21 and concluded on 12/9/21. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 16 children present and 2 staff present. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection.

Standard 8VAC20-770-60-C-2
Based on a review of two staff records, it was determined that the facility did not deny continued employment of a staff who did not have a search of the central registry finding within 30 days of employment.

Evidence:
1. The record for staff #1 did not contain documentation of a completed search of the central registry finding.
2. Staff #1 (Program Director) reviewed the record for the staff #1, and confirmed that the search of the central registry finding has not been received.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded: Staff #1 has previously completed the search of the central registry, but we were unable to locate it for viewing during the inspection. If it can't be located staff #1 will need to complete a new search of the central registry. All new staff will complete a search of the central registry upon hire and we will ensure it is received within 30 days.

Based on a review of the emergency supplies at the center, it was determined that the licensee did not ensure that there is one working battery-operated radio in each building used by children.

Evidence:
1. There was not a working battery-operated radio and battery-operated radio available during the inspection.
2. Staff #1 confirmed that there was not a working battery-operated radio and battery-operated radio available during the inspection.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded: A battery-operated radio and battery-operated radio were purchased and are now at the center..
